The Excel Baroness: Kimma Wreh, Philanthropist and Serial Business Professional

On this day, we commemorate Kimma Wreh’s life and accomplishments. Despite her gentle and soft-spoken nature, she is a determined and focused individual who we recognize as the Baroness of the Excel Global Media Group (EGMG), a true powerhouse. Kimma Wreh holds various titles, such as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of EGMG, Creative Director of Tekay Designs, Co-founder of KDE Disability Africa Foundation, Former Liberian fashion ambassador, and Cyber Security Manager.

Early Life

Kimma Wreh was born and grew up in Liberia, West Africa. Due to political turmoil in her home country, she migrated to the United States in 1988. Soon after arriving in the US, she focused on her education and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. Later, she went on to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from LeTourneau University in Houston, Texas.

A Serial Business Professional

Kimma Wreh is an experienced corporate executive, media, fashion, and humanitarian director who has accumulated over 25 years of expertise in managing businesses, overseeing operations, managing finances, and ensuring IT and internal audit/compliance are up to standard. She has worked with top-ranking companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Compaq Computer Corp, PepsiCo Food Systems, and others. In addition, she has a certification as an Internal Auditor.

Recognition and Philanthropic Gestures

In her capacity as a philanthropist, Kimma Wreh offers aid to individuals living with disabilities in both Africa and the US. She provides assistance in the form of clothing, food, and training. Kimma serves as the President of the Board of Directors and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of KDE Disability Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization in the United States that is focused on improving the lives of people with disabilities through advocacy, vocational training, clothing, and food. Furthermore, Kimma established the Tuan Wreh Fashion Institute to promote the growth of the Liberian fashion industry and provide young people with the chance to learn valuable tailoring skills.

Wreh was honored with the ‘Phenomenal Woman Award’ by the American Caribbean Chamber of Commerce in March 2021, and in the same year, she received the Community Service Award from Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds and a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor of Arcola, Texas. Similarly, on January 3, 2021, Kimma was appointed as Chief Chinyere Ugo 1 of Umuhu Atta in Imo State, Nigeria by King Eze Polycarp Unaeze Anugwo Obaire 1 of Ngugo Inaire in Nigeria, and Chinyere signifies “God’s Gift”

An African Fashion Icon

Wreh has exhibited African clothing designs at significant fashion events such as the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, UNESCO headquarters in Paris France, New York Fashion Week, Chicago Fashion Week, Houston Fashion Week, Dallas International Fashion Week, as well as multiple bridal shows in New York.

Her dedication to promoting African fashion, culture, and tourism globally has earned her the reputation of a champion. Her enthusiasm for fashion and culture prompted her to create TeKay Designs in 1998, and she has played a vital role in establishing the brand as a high-end, prize-winning international fashion label that focuses on ethnic bridal, formal, casual wear, and accessories. TeKay Designs currently operates in the USA (Texas) and West Africa (Liberia, Nigeria, Ghana).
