The royal women of the Ezinne Association of Old Orlu Province had a nostalgic moment as they celebrated their 25th anniversary in an atmosphere of love and unity.
The silver jubilee event took place on September 24, 2022, at Martin Crosswinds in Maryland, USA and was attended by notable figures and distinguished guests who traveled from various locations to commemorate this significant milestone with the Ezinne Association.
At the venue adorned with vibrant decorations, members of the association showcased the organization’s blue and white colors in their clothing, while others dressed in stunning ensembles with hints of white and blue.
Several distinguished individuals were recognized during the occasion, including Mrs. Yumi Hogan, the First Lady of the State of Maryland and Special Guest of Honour. Dr. Ngozi Wexler, MD MPH FACOG, Chair of the OB/GYN Department at Medstar Montgomery Medical Centre, served as the keynote speaker, while Dr. Cosmas U. Nwokeafor, Ph.D. chaired the event. The event also welcomed the association’s matrons, Mrs. Sabina Onyekwere (Ihidioranma) and Mrs. Victoria Igbozulike (Appeal Nwanyi).
The Ezinne Association is a non-profit organization established in 1997 by a group of influential women from the Old Orlu Province in Imo State, Nigeria. The association’s objective is to enhance the lives of women, children, and youth through numerous programs and initiatives funded by fundraising activities. Their outreach efforts encompass Nigeria and the United States.”
At the occasion, Dr. Nkiru (Nikki) Nwisu-Ezeani, the President of the Ezinne Association, emphasized that the association would continue to function in unity. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to meeting the needs of underserved communities, which has been blessed with success. Dr. Nwisu-Ezeani expressed the group’s intention to use their platform to unite and mobilize women in promoting family and community development. The association’s core values include showing authentic love, fostering peace and unity, offering voluntary service, and respecting human rights, as well as caring for the needy and elderly. She expressed her gratitude for the support and encouragement over the last 25 years and thanked the attendees for joining in the celebration on behalf of the Ezinne women.
The successful execution of the 25th anniversary celebration is attributed to the planning committee’s diligence in ensuring that the event was realized. The committee members included Lady Stella Odum, Udonwanyi, who chaired the committee, along with Dr. Nkiru (Nikki) Nwisu-Ezeani; Mrs. Ego Ndubizu, Original; Lolo Stella Idika, Mmanwu Eji Eje Mba; Lolo Dr. Rita Chioma, Abubougo; Lolo Chioma Ohiri, Ugonma; Deaconess Stella Okoro, Decency Nwanyi, and Mrs. Blessing Anabaraonye, Ada Ejieje Mba.
Since its establishment, the leadership of Ezinne Association of Old Orlu Province has been held by outstanding members of the association on a rotational basis of four years. These exceptional leaders include Mrs. Sabina Onyekwere (1997-1998), Mrs. Ugo Ndubizu (1998-2002), Lady Dr. Nnenna Uzomah (2002-2006), Chief Dr. Adaku Nwokeafor (2006-2010), Iyom Sussie Okoro, Ph.D. (2010-2014), Lolo Dr. Rita Chioma (2014-2018), and Dr. Nkiru (Nikki) Nwisu-Ezeani (2018 to present).
Under the leadership of Mr. Ihiasota Boniface, CEO of Excel Global Media Group Inc. USA, and Mrs. Nnenna Joy Ugorji, Director of HR and DMV Rep USA, the Excel media team was present at the event to provide media coverage and publicize the celebration.
